bought a cheap usb to rs485 converter but not exactly sure how to hook it up to the wires and the terminals.

I have the original axyz LRC card in the old win 98 computer right now. Don't know how hard it is to convert over to something like that but I'm entertaining the possibility. Looked into possibility of using something like Mach3, etc. I've looked into some breakout boards and the smoothstepper. Documentation seems to be lacking online. I can't send any new files over to the router if I need to route a new design. Problem is can't because router says it's offline in software.

#Axyz toolpath for windows manuals

Don't have manuals for anything just a shop procedure that was written by someone before me of how to set up files for toolpath and how to run the router. My question is what is causing the router to say offline inside of toolpath and not show a connection? Have a huge picture dump I've taken pictures of every single thing I can think of and it doesn't help there isn't much documentation on the AXYZ millenium router I have or anything but the help section inside of toolpath. It could be something simple and I'm making it more complicated then it has to be I've never seen toolpath when it was running but I know it definitely doesn't work because I've read the toolpath instructions we have and it's definitely saying the router is offline. Went to a friends cnc shop the other day just to see how he's running things and told him some of the problems I was having and he gave me some ideas so going to try a few things. Not a cnc expert actual this is my first rodeo with this sort of thing. I've checked everything I have schematics for and it's checking good from the router side of things.

Going to wire up a new serial test cable just to be sure.

I have the other programs to design just need to get the files out to the router and this is the problem I'm having with toolpath software is it says offline even though the router is booted fine, shows previous files, just can't get it to connect to the router pc for outputing files. Right now it's not working says offline when I try to send a file to the router.

I'd be interested is seeing the post-processor from the "another user".I thought toolpath was the software to output nc format code to the router so you would need it. I might pop into work tomorrow (24 hours from now) to grab a few books so I'll have a rummage around and see what I can find. There may even be an option to reload the OS into the machine. There might even be an option to reload the table information from the previously mentioned. I believe there is an option in TPWIN to reboot the machine. RDY files that is good to have around in case I need to see what was done for that project. I'm also on vacation for awhile so have no access to TPWIN-even though it can't connect to our a2mc I have enough legacy. That contains all the information about your machine. There is a file in the TPWIN directory that you should copy to another place and guard. From what I've seen or remember about is that it behaves much like the VTransfer portion of Vectric's product be specifically for AXYZ machines. I think that was through AXYZ UK and not the main office in Burlington, Ontario, Canada. The amc ones are the "AXYZ Arcs" series.ĪXYZ UK had software for the amc controller that was called something like Panel Maker or Panel Builder that did a similar job to VCarve but that was 10+ years ago. Vectric software has post-processors for both the amc and a2mc controllers. The old amc controller does have a file size limit-generally only reached when doing large 3D finishing toolpaths.

  • create g-code in a 3rd party package (such as Vectric's products-we used DelCAM's "Art CAM" software back when we had the amc controller) then use TPW to load that g-code and send it to the 4008.
  • import DWG / DXF file and create the toolpaths from within TPW then send it to the 4008.
  • If your computer has a serial port (do any these days?) then the RS485 is not needed. This is generally done with an RS485 box to convert USB to 9-pin serial. The amc uses a serial connection from your computer to the machine. Once done g-code is created in the Vectric software and copied to the machine as if copying to a USB stick. The a2mc has an ethernet connecter and once assigned a static IP address on your network can be mapped as a drive.
  • amc: older controller that requires the use of TPW.
  • a2mc: the latest that doesn't need the Toolpath for Windows (TPW).
